My Christmas Day Routine

Whenever I ask my friends what they actually do on Christmas Day, they all have a different answer. I personally find it really interesting to see what other people and their families do on Christmas Day. If they have any traditions, dress up all fancy or have a complete lazy day in their favourite Christmas pyjamas.

So here is what I normally get up to on Christmas Day with my family.

img_2581I am always fist to wake up. I am like a little kid on Christmas Day as I still seem to get really excited. I used to wake up at about 6am, but I have got better over the years and am now waking up about 7am.

As soon as I wake up, I will have a stocking at the end of my bed (Which my mum puts there on Christmas Eve) full of little presents. I crawl over to my mums room and wake her up –Β Which she is always so happy about!Β I will then sit with her on her bed and open the presents in my stocking. These presents are normally little bits a pieces like hair bobbles and lip balms. I have had this socking since I was really little so it means a lot to keep it.

Once the stocking has been opened, we will stumble downstairs still in our PJ’s. Then, we will all sit down in the lounge with our breakfast. The options are either a cooked breakfast or croissants on Christmas. This year were going for the croissants! Yummy. I will then go over and get my grandparents (as they live next door to us) and we will sit by the Christmas tree and I will dish the presents out and open them all together as a family. As I am an only child, I am the one who will sit and sort the presents out for the other family members. We normally take it in turns to open a present each.

Once the presents under the tree have been opened (which is normally achieved before 9am!) I will go upstairs and get ready for the day. I tend to try and wear smart/casual on Christmas day, but it doesn’t always happen.

Once I am ready, I have a few hours to kill until the Christmas dinner arrives on the table. In this time I will usually call or text all my friends and family, wishing them a Happy Christmas , listen to Christmas music and just chill out for a little bit.

Mum always does our Christmas dinner and its amazing. Best meal of the year! We also have a little tradition in the family of Table Presents. Basically, when we sit down to have our dinner there will be another present on the table for us all to open. Because why not?! When I tell people about this tradition, they look at me like an odd ball, but it’s just completely the norm for me, and it would be weird if we didn’t do it.

After the best meal ever, and being stuffed. We go to see our family friends, and we do this every year. We go to theirs, or they come to ours and we spend the evening together playing silly games, eating, drinking and just having a jolly time.

Once the evening is one I will fall into bed and have the best nights sleep ever, with a tummy full of festive food.

What do you get up too on Christmas day? I would love to know if we have any of the same traditions.

Love always, G x
